Whether it is inside school or outside, it is important to keep kids hydrated at all times. The world is changing by the minute ( literally in my case after setting up this blog 🙂 ) – and also getting hotter – so parents need to make sure that their kids have access to water even if they do not go through tough, physical activities.

To make sure that kids indeed get their required water intake every day, what about packing a personalized water bottle for kids in their bags? Ensuring that they have access to toddler water bottles will help make sure that they are always able to quench their thirst and even fight off fatigue.

Now, with so many of these kids’ water bottles available in the market today, how do you choose the best one that’s right for your little ones? Parents usually choose their water bottle products using a number of considerations and these could include most, if not all, of the following: ease of use, tendency to leak, eco-friendliness, ability to keep contents cool (or hot), ease of assembly and clean up, material used, weight, design, and many more!

Ultimately, it depends upon you, the parent, as well as the user, to choose which one they believe would be the best water bottle for kids. It might take a while before the kids learn how to use it or before they learn to look for it and use it whenever they go thirsty or hot. We have also rounded up in this list what we think are the best kids’ water bottle available today, to make shopping a lot easier for all the moms and dads out there. Choose wisely!

    CamelBak eddy Kids Water Bottle

    CamelBak eddy Kids Water Bottle

If you are constantly outdoors, you probably already have a water bottle that you use as a family. But, you know what kids would like even better? If you give them their very own kids’ water bottle to sip from! Not only will they feel a lot like an adult but they will surely always keep in mind to keep themselves hydrated especially when you are doing activities outdoors.

What is great about the toddler water bottles from CamelBak? For one, it is a lot like the ones that adults use so if you already have that in the family, it shouldn’t be difficult to try and teach them how to use it. The biggest difference to the bottles for kids is that they come with fun graphic designs that will match their personality. Of course, kids require lesser amount of water compared to adults so this bottle has a smaller capacity. The size is easy for their little hands to grip and it also will not be super heavy for them to carry around inside their pack. You can even place it inside their lunchboxes so they can take it to school.

Another thing that parents love about this water bottle is that it is very easy to clean and can be tossed into the dishwasher. Sure, parents worry about it being entirely of plastic but that is what makes it very light – and don’t worry since it is 100% BPA-free! Plus, the bite valve is just made of one piece so you do not have to worry about choking your child in the process. Some parents did complain about mold and mildew forming around the shielded vent around the lid, which can be disgusting. The only way around this would be constantly clean up the parts to prevent these things from forming.

After weighing all the pros and cons, we believe that this deserves to be placed at the first spot in our list.

You know what a parent’s biggest pet peeve is when it comes to their kid’s water bottles? It’s dealing with leaks and spills. Sure, it’s very easy to just wipe off any mess that your kids make but if you had the chance to avoid it before it happens then why not embrace that, right?

So, what is the best feature for the Contigo water bottle? For starters, it comes with a no spill and no leak feature. You’d be surprised to find out that these two are actually different from each other and that you would do whatever you can to try to prevent any of these from happening. What this bottle has is a one-touch autoseal lid that will help automatically seal up in between sips so messes are avoided as much as possible. It is mostly made up of plastic but it is BPA-free and very safe for children to use. Your little kiddos can bring it just about anywhere (it isn’t too heavy) and the size are perfect for their hands. You do not even have to worry about them using it inside the car because there is very minimal chance, if at all, that they will spill water inside. Even better is that both the lid and bottle of this product are dishwasher safe so all you have to do is toss it in during clean up.

Perhaps the only sad part about using the Contigo kids’ water bottle is that mold and mildew has the tendency to build up inside, just like most other water bottles in the market. Perhaps the only way around this would be constantly clean the bottle and try to avoid using it for liquids other than water. We also found that it is a little difficult to clean up the lid as it is rather difficult to take apart. This can be especially problematic if you use it for juice or water since there is a tendency for liquid to hold on to the cap. As such, we will have to place this at the second spot.

    Nalgene Tritan Grip-N-Gulp Water Bottle

    Nalgene Tritan Grip-N-Gulp Water Bottle

Nalgene has long been a leading brand especially when it comes to water bottles being used outdoors. If we only had one product to choose from for its durability (kids’ hands tend to be very clumsy), it would probably be this one from Nalgene.

What is so great about this leak proof water bottle? This one definitely has a lot of features up its sleeve which is why it is found high in our list. For starters, this bottle is super tough and can withstand the impact of being thrown into concrete from a moving minivan. Its lid also seals very tightly and does not spill or lets odor escape easily. You no longer have to worry about getting stains all over the floor, rug, carpet or car but you may have to worry about losing it under the couch for months because the smell from leftover milk can never escape it. The best part about it (at least for the kiddos) is that it comes with a rubberized lid and a plastic mouthpiece where they can drink just like the big kids and the adults.

This kids’ water bottle has just the right capacity to quench your toddler’s thirst even during a day of hiking and being in the outdoors. They can stuff it inside their backpack or even clip it outside for convenience. While it is made of plastic, it is BPA-free so you do not have to worry about toxic chemicals leaching into your kid’s drinks. If you are worried about clean up and assembly, there is no need to because this one is made up of very few parts and you can also just toss it into the dishwasher for cleaning.

If you can only purchase one water bottle brand, particularly one that is made up of very durable material, then we suggest you go for this one. This definitely deserves to be placed at the third spot in our list.

Thermos Foogo Vacuum Insulated Straw Bottle

Thermos Foogo Vacuum Insulated Straw Bottle

Some kids simply like to keep their drinks cold and fresh. For some parents, keeping the liquid colder for longer also helps ensure that it will not spoil and that bacteria growth can be avoided. As such, they often prefer getting insulated water bottles as these things are very helpful in achieving just that.

What do we love about the Thermos Foogo insulated bottle water with straw? We at ParentsNeed HQ love that this comes in a very compact and portable design and has just the right capacity to quench a little person’s thirst. At 10 ounces, it should be enough for one day use and maybe even more. We also like the design of this bottle as it has a contoured shape which makes gripping and holding it very easy, especially for those with very little hands. The base of the bottle is even non-slip and scratch resistant.

As for the part that is involved in the actual sipping, this bottle has a push button lid so it is very easy for little kids to operate it even on their own. Once the lid pops open, a silicon straw comes out so sipping the contents inside the bottle should not be a problem for kids. The straw being used in this water bottle is the same size as the real straws so they will feel a lot like a big kid every time they use this bottle.

What about assembly and clean up? Parents think that this is the best insulated water bottle as it is only made up of four simple parts which are the bottle, lid, soft straw and stem. Although it is preferred to hand wash the individual parts to ensure that they are thoroughly and properly cleaned, it is also possible to toss them into the top rack of the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

Although insulated, this product is not designed to store hot liquids and should be avoided. We definitely like a lot of things about this item so we are placing this at the fourth spot in our list.

Klean Kanteen Kid Stainless Steel Bottle

Klean Kanteen Kid Stainless Steel Bottle

Not all parents are keen to the idea of having plastic make contact with the liquids that their kiddos drink. Fortunately, there is an alternative product you can look into, particularly these stainless steel water bottles from Klean Kanteen.

Why would you want to add this into your shopping list? Well, its strongest point is the stainless steel material that is being used for the body of this bottle. It is just as light and durable as the plastic bottles, if not more, and you can be sure that no toxic chemicals leach into the water, juice or milk that your kiddos drink. The spout is made up of soft silicone spout that is 100% BPA-free which might be something to consider. Still, knowing that the liquid does not really sit on the lid part is enough to keep parents happy and satisfied. It is also important for parents to take note that this product also has a difference with the aluminum bottles that Klean Kanteen has in that they do not have to coat the inside of the bottle with plastic or epoxy lining.

But, as much as we would like to consider it as one of the best water bottles available in the market, it is not without flaw. For one, a lot of parents have complained that this bottle has leaking issues and it seems very likely so. The cap comes with a washer, which when not screwed correctly and tightly, could be a reason why leaks come up. Its valve is also similar to most sports bottles used by adults and could also be a reason for leaks. Additionally, the valve is designed more for older users; opening, using and even closing it can become problematic especially for very young kids.

Sadly, despite so many good things about this product, we will have to place this Klean Kanteen water bottle at the bottom spot in our list.

Finding a truly perfect kids’ water bottle is next to impossible. You will most likely run into some issues: not using eco-friendly materials, using plastic, not being insulated, not having a lid and so many others. It may bother you that the mouthpiece has to be touched for some bottles before they can actually use it. You may also not like it that the plastic, even though it is BPA-free, sits in the liquid and could possibly contaminate the contents. Ultimately, it still depends upon you and your child to make the final choice. Hopefully this list has helped you narrow down your choices.
